Proposal of Method 16C for the Determination of Total Reduced Sulfur Emissions from Stationary Sources

ACTION

  • On August 26, 2010, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) proposed a new method to measure total reduced sulfur emissions from stationary sources. This new Method 16C may be used as an alternative to Methods 16, 16A, and 16B. EPA is proposing to allow, but not require, facilities to use Method 16C to determine compliance with issued rules. These rules include:
    • Standards of Performance for Kraft Pulp Mills (40 CFR Part 60)
    • Standards of Performance for Petroleum Refineries (40 CFR Part 60)
  • In addition, a number of facilities regulated by state and local agencies are
    considering its use.
